A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §18-2-9a, relating to requiring that the State School Board ensure that no class size for grades seven through twelve in public schools shall be greater than 25 students to every one teacher.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §18-2-9a, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 2. STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.
§18-2-9a. Classroom size requirements for secondary and high schools in the state.

The state board shall establish rules regarding class size for all public secondary and high schools in the state. With respect to classrooms in grades seven through twelve, no class size shall be greater than a 25 to one student to teacher ratio. The state board shall enforce this class size standard on all public school classes for grades seven through twelve.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require all classes in grades seven through twelve in public schools to be no larger than 25 students to one teacher.
